Lifepoint Church of Tampa, FL (www.lifepoint.tv)
This is the home church for Dwight and Marlene Short. This exciting Bible based church is a non-denominational church which attempts to be inclusive for all people seeking to know Jesus Christ. Pastor Brad White is a gifted man of God who has helped to bring Lifepoint from a small group of believers meeting in an apartment building to over 2500 people meeting on a weekend.
It is one of the fastest growing congregations
in the area and is expanding ministry emphasis to fulfill the great commission: “Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
to the close of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-21
From Lifepoints own website:
WHY do we do what
we do the way we do it? We've done our homework, and found out that people avoid church because they have to dress up, because they can't find meaning in what they hear, and especially because it's BORING! We want to strip away all of those barriers. This is why we offer great music with a full band, messages with topics relevant to everyday life, and a casual relaxed atmosphere. There's no dress code - jeans or shorts are great! We believe people matter to God, and he accepts us just the way we are, and LifePoint does too!
Kingdom Advisors (www.kingdomadvisors.org)
This ministry is intended to be a service to people who work in the financial services industry. The hope of Kingdom Advisors is that an advisor’s practice would become their ministry. There are significant resources available to help train people to develop this whether they work for a small firm or for a large broker dealer. KA President, Ron Blue is adamant about his passion to see more advisors and financial professionals bring their talents to bear on Kingdom purposes. Investors can visit this website to find a Kingdom Advisor, and advisors can visit this website to join with other believers to be part of this great movement in the financial services industry.
Kingdom Advisors of North Tampa meets
on the second Thursday of each month for lunch and learning at Idlewild
Baptist Church from 11:30 to 1:00. Contact for more information can be
obtained be emailing dshort@dlsconsult.com
Part of the message that KA brings
to the marketplace is: “In order to accomplish our
vision and mission, we need to understand that our
primary responsibility is to serve financial advisors: Our primary responsibility
is to reveal Biblical wisdom to financial advisors, trusting they will
respond by integrating spiritual principles in their counsel so their
clients may realize expanded opportunities for Kingdom impact.”
By visiting the website, you can find groups that are meeting in all parts of the country and offering fellowship for advisors, attorneys, mortgage professionals, and people from all walks of life in the financial industry.
National Association of Christian
Financial Consultants (www.nacfc.org)
The NACFC was one of the first organizations formed
in the late 1990’s to help encourage financial advisors to bring their Christian witness as a central theme in their advisory practice. Just like the Kingdom Advisors website, both investors and advisors are encouraged to visit the NACFC website to either find a Christian Advisor or become a member of the NACFC.
Understanding what the organization
is all about is summarized in this statement from their website:
“The NACFC (National
Association of Christian Financial Consultants) is a group of investment
professionals committed to investment and financial planning disciplines
centered upon Biblical principles. Our mission is to provide educational
resources, fellowship support, and Biblical standards for professional
investment counselors seeking to integrate Bible-based investing principles
within financial counseling practices.”
Cuyahoga Valley Church (www.cuyahogavalleychurch.com)
Another dynamic church that has been a part of the ministry development for Dwight and Marlene is CVC which was their primary church while living in Ohio. Pastor Rick Duncan is still a close brother in the Lord and has been blessed by God to bring a message of hope to people in Northeast Ohio. The welcoming atmosphere that exists at CVC is a great reason why people find this church to have an open door to all who seek to know Jesus Christ in a passionate way.
A passage from their website:
"Cuyahoga Valley
Church is the parent organization of Sevenoseven Ministries and sponsor
and supporter of several church plants. Our mission is “helping people
grow to be passionate followers of Christ.” “We
do so by encouraging people to come as they are,
by creating environments where they are equipped to grow closer to
God, and by growing in relationships with others.”
In His Steps Foundation (www.giftlegacy.com)
As a Christian Community Foundation focused on the needs of ministries in Northeast Ohio, and throughout the world, IHS Foundation is setting a model for stewardship that is having an impact on churches and ministries. The leaders and donors for IHS are committed to seeing how God can work thru the generosity of people who wish to leave a legacy that includes the work of the Lord.
The foundation is also a leader in
developing Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI) standards for all assets
under management.
The foundation’s website is also a great source of information and research that has been done by Executive Director, Rob Cathcart. Christian investors would benefit greatly by studying the work done on the Biblical Basis for Endowment that offers a framework for why this is an important consideration of good stewardship.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (www.fca.org)
Of all the ministries to youth, none has shown more significant effectiveness than FCA. Since sports have been used to sell everything from razor blades to beer, it is no accident that the testimonies of athletes and coaches has also had a huge impact on young people who have come to know Christ because their earthly heroes have pointed them to God.
As the FCA’s website relates, this ministry has an incredible outreach:
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes
is touching millions of lives... one heart at a time. Since 1954, the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes
on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels
to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus
Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America.
FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and
encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.
Teams To The Nations (www.teamstothenations.org)
This organization helps to bring ordinary Christians to take on extraordinary tasks. Their record in helping people to participate on mission trips has been a great way to get them to expand their witness. You too can find a place to bring your talents and work ethic to a mission project around the corner or around the world. Projects are ongoing in places as diverse as Northeast Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; Appalachia; Russia; Ukraine; El Salvador; Ghana; Kenya; India; China; Lithuania; and many other places. Visiting this website reminds us of the needs of others in places we often forget about without a group like TTTN. Their website offers not only a review of existing projects but also includes an application for those who wish to participate in future work projects.
